Carabao Cup draw LIVE: Chelsea, Tottenham and Premier League clubs discover second-round fate

The draw, made on Monday night, also saw Chelsea and Tottenham drawn at home to League One Luton and second-tier Charlton Athletic respectively, with a further seven Premier League clubs also learning their fate.

The 11 top-flight teams not playing European football this term join those to have progressed through the first round, which include newly relegated West Ham, who beat Portsmouth 3-1 in their opening encounter.

The nine top-flight sides playing in Europe this season join the Carabao Cup in the third round.

All these Carabao Cup second-round ties will be played midweek in the week commencing Monday 24 August.

The full draw is almost complete, with just one first-round match left to play – tonight’s Devon derby between Plymouth and Exeter, with kick-off in half an hour.

The winner of Plymouth Argyle vs Exeter City will face Championship winners Coventry City; five-time winners Chelsea host Luton; and Tottenham Hotspur are at home to Charlton Athletic.

1979 and 2017 runners-up Southampton will face newly relegated West Ham United; Watford will host Peterborough; and Fulham will play AFC Wimbledon.
